Booking Trips / Boats / Kit

Remember the procedures/ rules for attending trips or using club kit. Please remember that trip organisers are Volunteers and, without such, there would be no club trips on offer!

Booking Trips: Any member wishing to attend a trip MUST contact the organiser – both to ensure that the trip is going ahead and to ensure that (where places are limited) names are booked

Commit to trips early: Please be considerate to the organiser and let them know as soon as you can if you intend to join a trip.

Booking Boats: Any member wishing to use club boats/equipment for a trip MUST contact Mike Farnden   - who has volunteered to act as the central control to ensure boats are not double booked17

Saturday Thames London Meet by the Thames Tradesmen's Rowing Club on the North bank, on the upstream side of Barnes railway bridge(postcode W4 2SH) at XXXX. A paddle to Tower Bridge and return, about 22 miles in total, but both directions hopefully with the tide. You can bring lunch and afternoon tea, but there should be time for a pub break somewhere. Because of the distance this is a trip for touring or sea kayaks, or tandem open boats. Because of strong tides and river traffic hazards it is not one for novices. 25/04/2010 Sunday K&A/Avon Kennet & Avon Canal/River Avon : Meet at the Avon Valley Park in Bradford, believed to be via Pound Rd. off Frome Rd., OS ref: 824604, at 10:00. Paddling down river to the Dundas Aqueduct then transferring to the canal for the return journey. About 10 miles in all. Two weirs may be portaged. Bring lunch. Suitable for canoes. 1 Mike W C

06/07/2010 Tuesday Julian Butler Race The 18th annual Julian Butler Memorial race will be run either on the Avon Loop or around the head - A fun handicap race for all abilities, in kayaks or canoes, up the harbour and round the Avon loop. Slower paddlers and boats will leave earlier with the aim of all getting home at the same time. No need to be competitive, just come and enjoy a great paddle. Please turn up at Mudeford 18:30 [HW=18:50 BST]

09/07/2010 Weekend Devon Coast Steve Sambell Memorial Paddle. A self contained camping trip around the South Devon coast from Totnes to Aveton Giffard. This will be over 70km of paddling with the possibility of overfalls, landing in surf, and stretches of exposed cliffs with no landings, so it is one for strong paddlers only. 34 Barry D SK

06/11/2010 Weekend Usk Annual club trip to Wales. The Usk is usually suitable for an introduction to white water, and the scenic Brecon canal runs alongside it for a flat water option. Also great walking for non-paddlers. The accommodation cost will be £12/14 per person per night. Max. 32 people 2 Nick L KC
